Android PWA Icon Requirements: Sizes, Manifest, and Generator

I deployed a PWA for a client and the Android install prompt would not fire. The problem: the manifest.json referenced a 192px icon, but the actual file was 96px. Android rejected it silently — no error, no install prompt, just nothing. I regenerated the icons at the correct sizes with our Android icon generator and the prompt appeared immediately.

The Two Required Sizes

Android needs two icon sizes in your manifest: 192x192px for the home screen and 512x512px for the splash screen. Both must be actual PNGs at those dimensions — not scaled-up smaller files. Generate your Android icons →
