I build WordPress sites for a living. Every site launch involves a favicon, and every favicon needs to work on about six different platforms. I tested four free favicon generators to see which one actually covers all the sizes you need.
Favicon.io: generates a basic favicon.ico from text or image. Browser tab coverage is fine. No Apple touch icon. No Android PWA icons. Incomplete for a professional site.
RealFaviconGenerator: generates a complete multi-platform package. Upload-based. Privacy policy mentions "aggregated usage data." I do not use it for client work.
FaviconGenerator.org: basic PNG-to-ICO converter. No multi-size output. Quick for one favicon, not for a complete site setup.
