I ran a performance test on a client site: their 32×32 ICO favicon was 5.3KB. I replaced it with an SVG favicon from our SVG favicon generator — 0.8KB. That is an 85% file size reduction. For a site with 100K daily visitors, that saves about 450MB of bandwidth per day just on favicon requests.
